Tight end Pharaoh Brown was signed to the Seahawks during free agency, here are a few notes to learn a bit more about him.
PNW Ties
After finishing high school in Ohio, Brown spent his college playing days at the University of Oregon where he was a standout player for the team. Brown said he loved playing in the PNW when he was here for college.
"I'm excited to be back where they love football," Brown said on playing in Seattle. "Where the fans are super engaged. Excited to put on a show and bring some wins to this amazing organization."
Before he was signed as a free agent, Brown spent some time with the Raiders, Colts, Browns, Texans and most recently the Patriots, just last season.
Ready For The 12s
Brown says the PNW, Seattle specifically, is a unique place to be.
"I'm super excited to be here with the Seahawks. This has always been a great place to witness and play in, all the stories and the histories of the fans. It kind of feels like a college atmosphere from the outside," Brown said.
So, 12s, give him a warm welcome.
Cleveland Raised
Before making his way to Oregon, Brown played high school football at Brush High School near Cleveland, Ohio. Growing up on the East side of Cleveland, Brown says helped him with life lessons he's learned as an adult. "Looking back at it now, it was a rough place but living there and being there that's all you kind of knew," Brown said. "A lot of those lessons, were lessons in life that helped me get through a lot of stuff."
Pharaoh Is His Name
Yes, his name is Pharaoh. And his mom holds the name near and dear to her heart.
"She was reading the Bible and found the name and she never heard anyone else with the same name," Brown said. "It was kind of a name that she didn't tell anybody, and I came out and she said 'Pharaoh'."
Brown joked that the lights started flickering in the room when he was born, and that was a sign that he was destined for greatness.
Outdoorsy Guy
Spending enough time in the PNW, you will undoubtedly find yourself taking part in some outdoor activities. Brown says that he's an avid snowboarder and enjoys hikes too. Being at the University of Oregon let Brown spend time with his teammates on Sunday hikes. "Super outdoors, going to Oregon, we used to do all these hikes," Brown said.
The Seahawks agreed to terms with tight end Pharaoh Brown to a one-year contract on March 13, 2024. Brown signed with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent out of the University of Oregon following the 2017 NFL Draft and has spent time with the Browns, Texans and most recently the New England Patriots.
