No Stranger to the PNW

After growing up in California and playing high school football at Jserra Catholic High School, Nick Harris found himself at the University of Washington. Harris earned himself a starting spot and played as a true freshman at guard. He played guard for his first two years before switching over to center for his final two years. At UW, he was named honorable mention all-Pac-12 his sophomore year and earned first-team all-conference honors his junior and senior years.

5th Round to Browns

Harris was drafted No. 160 overall in the fifth round by the Cleveland Browns. In his time with the Browns, he played in 40 games and started in four at center. He missed out on the 2022 season with an injury that happened during the preseason.

Seahawks Connections

When Harris finally is able to put on a Seahawks jersey, he will be playing for a familiar face in Seahawks offensive line coach, Scott Huff, who coached the offensive line at UW from 2017-2023, including the years that Harris played.

Local Foodie

As someone who is not from the PNW and born and raised in Ohio, I was very interested to see the difference in the food scene between Ohio and Seattle when I first moved here. One difference I immediately noticed was the amount of teriyaki restaurants the Seattle area has. In Ohio we have "Chinese takeout". I asked Harris what places he's excited to be able to frequent again, this time as a Seahawk and he named a couple food places like Kona Kitchen. But above all was teriyaki restaurants.

"Honestly, the main thing I missed was the teriyaki. I didn't realize how good I had it while I was here for college." Harris said.

Harris also shared that he and his fiancé, who was with him when he came to the Virginia Mason Athletic Center to meet with coaches and sign contracts, had one of their first dates at Varlamos.

Ready For the 12s

Although he's already experienced what Seattle sports fans can bring to games, the 12s are a different beast. "I'm excited to be back in the Pacific Northwest," Harris said. "I feel like this is my second home. [My fiancé and I] always come back here, every offseason I've come back to Seattle. It feels great to be able to play football in this city and participate in the legend of the Seahawks organization. Even when I was in college, I went to Seahawks games. And you could just feel the intensity and the passion of the fans. You felt it at Husky Stadium for sure, but being downtown and being in that stadium, it consumes you and it's a great place to be able to play football for sure."

Seahawks agreed to terms with offensive lineman Nick Harris on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 to a one year contract. Harris was drafted in 5th round (160th overall) by the Cleveland Browns in the 2020 NFL Draft out of the University of Washington. Check out some of the best photos of Nick Harris through the years.
